In this article where we explain how to install acrylic signs, we will talk about Standoff Acrylic signs. Standoff Acrylic Signs are also known as perspex signs. Standoff Acrylic Signs are the most preferred signs due to their aesthetic appearance, affordable costs and versatile usage purposes. These signs are usually used in offices. If your business is inside an apartment or a plaza, standoff acrylic signs are used to help people find you.

There are many different places where standoff acrylic signs are used. You can hang an acrylic sign personalized with your logo at your office entrance to indicate the name of the company. It can be used to indicate different rooms in your office. For example, executive rooms, departments, etc.

One of the purposes of using such signs is to provide direction. In a large apartment, you can indicate your office at the end of the corridor with an arrow sign or use a sign at the entrance of the apartment to indicate your office floor.

Step 1: Gather the materials you will need for installation

  • Standoffs (usually comes with screws and mechanism)
  • Acrylic sheet (in desired dimensions and thickness)
  • Drill and suitable drill bits (for drilling holes)
  • Spirit level or ruler (for alignment)
  • Pencil
  • A set of nylon anchors and screws for wall mounting

Step 2: Determine the Location of the Acrylic Sign

First, determine the surface you will be mounting on (wall, door, etc.). Determine the location of the acrylic sign and use a ruler or spirit level to make sure the sign is level on the surface. Once you have determined your preference for the height and location of the sign, mark the locations where the holes in the acrylic sign will fit with a pencil.

Mark off the spot where you want to drill a hole.

Step 3: Drill the Mounting Holes

Drill holes at the points you marked with a suitable drill bit. If the surface you will be mounting on is a tile or marble surface, you can first drill a small hole and then a hole of appropriate size. In this way, your wall can be drilled easily without cracking.

Drill into the wall with a drill bit the same thickness as your wall plug.

Step 4: Place the Nylon Anchors

The nylon anchors are necessary to hold the acrylic sheet securely. If you plan to hang your sign on a wooden surface, you don’t need them. Place the nylon anchors in the holes you drilled in the wall and hit them with a hammer. The nylon anchors should be sunk into the wall until they are flush with the wall. If you push the nylon anchors all the way in and they are still above the wall, you can cut off the remaining height with a utility knife.

Step 5: Mount the Acrylic Sign

Place the standoffs into the holes you drilled on the wall and screw them. Pass the standoffs through the 4 holes in the acrylic sheet. After attaching the acrylic sheet to the end of the standoffs, fix the standoffs and the acrylic sheet together with the screw heads.

Screw the standoff to the surface with a screwdriver. Place the plate on the standoff and attach the screw cap.

Step 6: Make The Final Checks

Check that the acrylic sign is properly and securely mounted. If it does not seem secure, you can tighten the screws more.

Properly installing Standoff acrylic signs will ensure the longevity of the sign. By following these installation steps, you can easily install your standoff acrylic sign. If you have a specific question about the installation, please contact us.
